Application Requirements

Application Requirements

Applications are open to highly qualified degree-seeking students of the University of Freiburg who wish to complete one or two semesters at a partner university abroad (please note: ERASMUS and institution's exchanges as well as doctoral students and so-called free movers who study at a university abroad outside of an exchange agreement are excluded from this funding).

The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is linked to an exchange place, i.e. only those who will be studying abroad within the framework of a university partnership (allocation of these places via the International Office) or a departmental partnership (allocation via the respective faculty/department) can apply.

In the selection process, emphasis is placed on above-average academic performance in your field of study as well as extraordinary extracurricular commitment and very good language skills in the language of instruction.

The call for applications for students from international partner universities who wish to study at the University of Freiburg is made separately.

Application Deadlines

Please refer to the call for applications for the current application deadlines.
These deadlines are cut-off dates. Applications that are not complete (i.e. completed and sent online application and submission of paper application) by this date cannot be included in the further selection process.

Corona Pandemic

Impacts of the corona pandemic: Scholarship holders can only be funded if they study online or in presence in the host country. The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung currently advises against traveling to the risk areas designated by the RKI as a matter of principle. If you study online at the partner university from Germany, you cannot be funded. If you are awarded a scholarship, but are unable to travel, please inform us immediately and withdraw from the scholarship. Please inform yourself about possible entry restrictions and quarantine regulations at the appropriate authorities, embassies or consulates of your host country before starting your trip. Travelers should also consult the travel and security advice of the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt).

The application must be submitted both online and in paper format.
