Business administration and non-profit or public - how does that fit together? What sounds contradictory at first makes perfect sense. The Bachelor of Business Administration (Public and Non-Profit Management) focuses on the application of business management approaches to public institutions such as cities or municipalities as well as non-profit, i.e. not-for-profit organizations as part of the broad-based business education. In this bachelor's degree program, learn how the management of non-profit organizations works, what challenges cities and municipalities face, and thus give your business administration studies an exceptional character.

restrictive admissions (University): Selection procedure
(50 places)
Germans and EU citizens: 90% of study spaces are granted in a selection procedure and 10% after a waiting period. Non-EU citizens (without German school-leaving certificate): do not take part in this selection procedure. Study spaces are granted according to a quota of 8% of the available spaces. The first four semesters of the bachelor’s program in Business Administration (Public and Non-Profit Management) provide a general overview of public management and non-profit management as well as basic skills in the principles and methods of business administration and economics. In the fifth and sixth semesters, students acquire more advanced skills in business administration and the complementary skills in economics, with a special emphasis on the area of public and non-profit enterprises and organizations. Parallel to their field-specific courses, students acquire transdisciplinary key qualifications, such as techniques of academic writing, foreign language skills, and teamwork and cooperation. 365 Volkswirtschaftslehre Economics Students of the M.Sc. program in Economics acquire the advanced analytical skills necessary to explore complex economic and societal issues. In addition to knowledge concerning the current economic situation, students develop the ability to identify, to structure, to analyze, and finally to solve problems in a variety of areas of application. Students are expected to acquire wide-ranging specialized knowledge and methodological competence, enabling them to launch successful careers as responsible decision makers in politics, business, and research.
The M.Sc. program in economics is divided into the areas economic theory, economic policy, public finance, business administration, quantitative methods, and business informatics. It thus forms a seamless continuation of the B.Sc. program in Economics.

The OSA will give you a realistic preview of the content, procedures and requirements of the relevant field of study at the University of Freiburg. It also offers you the opportunity to test your own interests, ambitions and skills, and through an individual feedback to assess whether the appropriate field of study at the University of Freiburg fits you.
The tables with the results of the last selection processes allow you to see the assigned grade/number of points in the selection process which would have sufficed and what the waiting period would have been to secure admission. The assigned grade/number of points is based by subject on the average grade or weighted grades achieved in the German higher education entrance qualification, on test results and/or outcome of the selection interview, and also on professional or practical experience in the respective subject.

Applicants who are not nationals of EU member states or of signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or who are not equivalent to Germans pursuant to Section 1 (2) No. 2-3 HZVO (Baden-Württemberg University Admission Regulations) and/or do not hold a German higher education entrance qualification may not take part in the lottery procedure.
Lottery procedures are conducted in subjects with restricted admission where places are still available. Should places still be available after the final waiting list procedure, these are allocated in a lottery procedure. Application for participation in the lottery procedure must be made online and separately for each degree programme to which admission is sought. The application period for the winter semester is from 1 September to 30 September and for the summer semester from 1 March to 31 March. Applications received earlier or later than stipulated will not be considered.
The online application portal for the lottery procedure is only open during the application period.
