Certification of documents for use abroad: obtaining an “APOSTILLE”
In order for documents issued by the University of Freiburg to be recognized abroad, they must usually be certified in the form of an "apostille". This also applies specifically to academic grades awarded by the University of Freiburg.
Preliminary certification by the university
In order to have a copy of a document officially certified with an apostille, it must first be certified by the university. To do this it should be submitted to the Student Service Center – International Admissions and Services of the University of Freiburg.
Office hours: Mo, Tue and Thu 10 a.m. to 12 noon and Thu 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Only documents issued by the university itself can receive preliminary certification, not documents relating to state examinations.
If you have already received a copy certified by the university, you can use this copy for the apostille, provided the certification bears the official seal of the university and the certification confirms that this copy is a true representation of the original.
