Art History
Master of Arts (M.A.)
The Master's program in Art History offers you the opportunity to specialize in your areas of interest and personal career aspirations within all epochs of European art history from the Middle Ages to the present. The basic knowledge you have already acquired in the Bachelor's program will be deepened in terms of content and differentiated in an interdisciplinary way. The University of Fribourg impresses with its diverse range of courses with different areas of focus, as well as with the opportunity to gain practical experience through excursions, workshops, internships and semesters abroad.
For successful completion of the Master's program in Art History, you should bring the following with you:
- Proof of at least 40 ECTS in art history from your bachelor's degree program.
- Knowledge of English (B1 level) and a second modern foreign language (A2 level)
- Knowledge of Latin or knowledge of a third modern foreign language (A2 level), which must be proven by the end of the 2nd semester of study
- Interest in the historical development of works of art, artists, aesthetics and artistic elements
- Independence and motivation to independently acquire knowledge and reflect on various contents
- Openness towards professional experience through internships as well as towards stays abroad and excursions
