Language courses (during the summer semester 2025)

How do I register for the language courses?
Registration period: March 10 & 11, 2025
The places will be allocated by L O T T E R Y
The registration link will be activated here on March 10, 2025.

Registration:
- Do the self assessment (placement test, see below in the section of the respective language) to find out what your course level is (target level).
- Important: enter the COURSE NUMBER (not the course title) in the ‘Comment’ field when registering. The course number is given in the first column of the language course programme (see below). If the course number is missing, your registration cannot be accepted.
- If you took part in an APIS semester course in WS 2024/25, please send the certificate to apis@zv.uni-freiburg.de. If the certificate is missing, your registration cannot be accepted.
Important to know:
- Only complete registrations within the registration period can be accepted.
- Multiple registrations do not increase your chances and will not be accepted.
- The APIS language courses are free of charge.
- You can register for a maximum of 1 language course per semester (either for a semester-long course or for an intensive course).
- Registration via the website of the Language Teaching Institute (SLI) is possible, but subject to a fee.
- We will forward the course confirmation to the SLI. The SLI will send you a booking confirmation with all necessary information: name of courses, course dates, and rooms or online access data.
- All international non-EU students are eligible to participate in the free APIS language courses,
- who are not participating in one of the following exchange programs: Erasmus, EUCOR, Global Exchange, IES, AYF Academic Year,
- who do not have a German or European university entrance qualification,
- and who are registered for the summer semester 2025.

If the APIS courses are fully booked, we will gladly put you on a waiting list.
Conditions and cancellation:
- After the confirmation your registration is binding.
- A rebooking of the language courses is no longer possible!
- You can register for a maximum of 1 language course.
- By registering, you agree to attend regularly and meet the course-specific performance requirements.
- A prerequisite for your continued participation in the free APIS program in the following semester is that you obtain a certificate of attendance in this course.
- Please be fair: If you are unable to attend the course, please inform us immediately in writing at apis@zv.uni-freiburg.de so that we can move other students up on the waiting list.

Intensive Courses
Intensive German Courses (during the semester break - winter semester 24/25)
- Students from the waiting list (who did not get a place in the semester courses in the winter semester 25/25) are prioritised in the registration for the intensive courses and will be informed by e-mail on how to register. If there are any seats left, students in their first semester (winter semester 24/25) will be informed by e-mail
- Course period: 02 to 11 April 2025, daily from 09:00 to 12:30
- Levels: A1 – C1
Intensive German Courses (during the semester break - summer semester 2025)
