APIS Language courses

As part of the Additional Program for International Students (APIS), we offer free language courses in German, English and French.

Current information: The language courses (incl. waiting list) for the summer semester 2023 are fully booked.

How do I register for the language courses?

Registration:

• You can register for a maximum of 1 language course per semester (either for a semester-long course or for an intensive course).
  Registration for the free semester-long language courses is only possible via the contact form on our website on 27.02.2023. 

• Registration for the free intensive courses will be possible in August 2023. Pre-registration is not possible! Students in their first semester will be given priority.

• Direct registration via HISinOne is not possible! Registration via the website of the Language Teaching Institute (SLI) is possible, but subject to a fee. If you have already registered via the SLI, a subsequent refund of the fee is not possible.

• Important: Only complete registrations can be accepted.

Eligibility:

• We will check if you are eligible to participate in our courses.
• Prerequisite for the free participation is that you are an international student (non-EU) at the University of Freiburg.

Commitment:

• After registering for a language course, you will receive a confirmation.

• Courses are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

• We will forward the course confirmation to the SLI. The SLI will send you a booking confirmation with all necessary information: name of coures, course dates, and rooms or online access data.

Conditions and cancellation:

• After the confirmation your registration is binding.
• A rebooking of the language courses is no longer possible!
• You can register for a maximum of 1 language course and commit yourself to regular attendance.
• Please be fair: If you are unable to attend the course, please inform us immediately in writing at apis@zv.uni-freiburg.de so that we can move other students up on the waiting list.
• If you are absent without excuse or do not attend a language course at all, you will be blocked from attending the following semester and will not be able to participate in our free language courses and other APIS offers.

Waiting list:

• If your desired course is already fully booked, we will gladly put you on a waiting list.

Intensive courses during the semester break

Registration for the intensive courses will be possible in August 2023. Pre-registration is not possible! Students in their first semester will be given preference.

German courses (during the semester)

Current information: The language courses (incl. waiting list) for the summer semester 2023 are fully booked.

The morning classes take place online. All other language courses are planned as in-person events. If it is not possible to conduct the language courses in person, the language courses will be conducted online.
